It's All About Carafes....

Last year, the humble wine carafe and decanter was the most purchased gift for the festive period.

A simple glass wine carafe makes a statement - the days of fancy cut-glass decanters are gone but the sleek, contemporary versions now available make a great centrepiece for any dinner table but also look superb on the "back-in-fashion" sideboard.

Pictured above is the Sagaform Wine Carafe with Oak Ball Stopper. This was our best seller last year and at only £19.50, you can understand why. Sagaform have also released thier new round bottom carafe (the same deisgn as the popular round bottom whisky glasses). There was no room for the picture but you can view it here - Round Bottom Carafe.

Also pictured above is the Elixir Wine Carafe from Italian company Legnoart. The Decanter Set is made from lead-free blown glass with a solid, natural bamboo base. Designed by Bjorn Blisse, the decanter set is completely hand finished.

Wine not included.......unfortunately! But this independent company have an amazing selection Duncan Murray Wines

Objekts Welcomes Unique of Copenhagen & Holmegaard

Objekts would like to welcome lighting ranges from Unique of Copenhagen and Holmegaard to our store. Both companies are at the forefront of lighting design with new ranges and classics from the likes of Verner Panton (including the New Wave Collection pictured above and the icon which is the Flowerpot), Todd Bracher and Maria Kariis.

Above, you will see the amazing New Wave Floor Lamp by Verner Panton for Holmegaard, the gem in the New Wave collection. Also pictured is one of the iconic Flowerpot Pendant Lights available in various colours.

When Verner Panton created New Wave in 1984, Holmegaard may not have been ready for his imaginative solutions, and Panton may have been ahead of his time. At any rate, New Wave ended up in Holmegaard's basement, where it was recently discovered and dusted off and is now more up to date than ever. Base and shade merge into one another in an organic shape with an undulating surface that casts a breathtaking light and makes a sculptural contribution to the interior design.

Lead times for delivery vary upon design and can be upto 6 weeks as some lights are made to order.

Check out the full lighting range now at Objekts.

Ovetto Recycling Bins at Geffrye Museum Exhibition

The Ovetto Recycling Waste Bin, created by designer Gianluca Soldi, has been selected by the Geffrye Museum for inclusion in their exhibition Eco Home - October 2009 / January 2010.

Eco Home will offer visitors food for thought on what they can do to make small but important eco changes in their homes. At the same time they will be able to see that eco-friendly can also be chic and that aspiration towards good taste and design can go hand-in-hand with trying to help conserve the planet's resources. In fact, ecological design is now at the cutting edge of home design, with traditional products becoming ever more stylish.

Ovetto is a great example of this. The egg-shaped bin is divided into three compartments, each a different colour - for paper, plastic, cans and so on - and each compartment has a door for changing the bag and a small round lid at the top for dropping each item in. There is even a plastic bottle and can crusher on top to reduce the volume of the waste.

Ovetto Bins boast excellent green credentials in their own right. The external parts are made from ABS; the recycled ABS used for the white and coloured parts is 40-70% recycled industrial discard; while the recycled polypropylene used for the black parts inside is 100% recycled from end-user products like PCs, printers and so on.

The Ovetto Recycling Bins continue to be a favourite with Objekts customers throughout the UK and we wish them every success with the exhibition.

Objekts is proud to welcome the amazing Ambient Lounge furniture to our store.

Objekts Welcomes Nigella, Bodo & Alan

Objekts would like to welcome three new designers to our store.

Nigella Lawson

Nigella Lawson is the author of many bestselling cookery books, which, together with several successful TV series, have made hers a household name around the world.
Inspired by her time spent in the kitchen and wanting to improve or make more desirable some of the tools of her trade, she developed her various ranges. The Living Kitchen range was co-designed by Nigella and Sebastian Conran.

Paying close attention to materials, colour and form, the Living Kitchen collection has evolved to include objects which are of high production and design standard and cover a wide range of kitchen needs.

The original Classic range featured ceramics in Nigella's now signature colours, "white with soul" cream and "good mood" duck egg blue.
The Liquorice collection recreates her signature pieces in sophisticated urban black. Many pieces are available in either ceramic or durable melamine.

Alan Aldridge

Alan Aldridge worked with the nation's key movers and shakers on the illustrative work for The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Elton John and the award-winning children's book "The Butterfly Ball and the Grasshopper's Feast" and designed iconic brands such as Hard Rock Cafe and House of Blues Identities.

Aldridge's colourful and psychedelic work defined an era.

Bodo Sperlein

The Bodo Sperlein Bathroom Collection is a unique range of contemporary home accessories in fine, white porcelain and ceramic.

The Bathroom Collection has a clean-cut, sculptural aesthetic that reflects Bodo Sperlein's signature style, offering affordable luxury from one of Britain's leading designers.

Welcome to the Objekts Blog

Welcome to the official Objekts blog.

Objekts (www.objekts.co.uk) is a fantastic online design boutique, stocking a huge range of items for your home from great design houses like Alessi, Guzzini, Eva Solo, Legnoart, Black + Blum, D-ZN and many more.

The purpose of our new blog is to keep you up-to-date with all the latest news from our store plus give you a glimpse of new and interesting products we are trying to get our hands on.

For now, take a strole around the store (www.objekts.co.uk) and see what takes your fancy. One of our more unique products is the wine aerator Spinwine (www.spinwine.dk). The crafty little Danish made device fits snuggly into the top of any red wine bottle and actually decants as it pours. In fact using the Spinwine is even better than decanting as the air is seamlessly lended with the wine unlike the stillness of sitting in a decanter.

That should be enough to whet your appetite for now; if not take a look at the great new bath towels from Eva Solo in the Bathroom section.

Take care & check back soon.

Lee @ Objekts.

(NB. If you know of any great brands or items that you think might fit perfectly into the Objekts store, please let us know.)
